Morning

01

Porto Cathedral

Cathedral · Sé

Arrive at 10am before the 11am mass fills the nave — the quiet before the bells is worth the early start. The Romanesque cloister alone justifies the climb.

Midday

02

Church of St Francis

Church · Ribeira

A short walk from the cathedral, this Gothic church hides one of the most gilded interiors in Portugal — the carved woodwork is genuinely staggering.

03

Bep Viet

Vietnamese · Ribeira

Opens at 12:30, so time the church visit to arrive hungry. A small Vietnamese spot that feels out of place in the best way — bright, clean flavours in the old town.

Afternoon

04

Tram from Infante to Alfândega

Riverwalk · Ribeira

Board at Infante and ride the historic tram along the waterfront to Alfândega — slow enough to actually see the river, short enough not to overthink it.

Evening

05

Casa da Música

Music venue · Boavista

The 6pm concert in Rem Koolhaas's angular concert hall — the building alone is worth arriving early for. Porto's best evening, almost by definition.

Late

06

Meia Nau Porto

Restaurant

Dinner after the concert, when the city has settled into itself. A good place to sit with the evening and debrief whatever just happened on stage.
